Permanent wellpoint dewatering

Ground stays saturated and ordinary surface drainage has not addressed the problem.

What FAS does.

FAS provides permanent wellpoint dewatering for properties where the conditions support that approach. We first review the history of the wet ground and any existing drainage or pumping. The proposal must account for the water below the surface, the collection and pumping equipment, and the discharge location. We explain the site information needed, the proposed installation and the ongoing operating requirements before you decide whether to proceed.

What we check.

  • How long the ground stays wet and how conditions change with rain.
  • Existing drains, pumps and nearby structures.
  • The discharge location, power and ongoing equipment access.

What happens next.

  1. Describe the persistent wet areas and previous work.
  2. Confirm the site checks needed to assess a wellpoint system.
  3. Review the proposed system, quote and operating requirements.

Common questions.

Does a wet yard always need wellpoints?

No. The first step is to distinguish a below-ground water problem from surface runoff and other drainage issues.

Can the online demo confirm groundwater conditions?

No. Appropriate site information is needed before proposing a system for water below the surface.

Wellpoint dewatering: moving the water table. Educational cutaway; the selected condition is described below.123

  2. 2Work zone
  3. 3Ground surface

The water table crosses the work zone. Part of the excavation is wet.

What to notice.

Wellpoints connect screened pipes to a header and vacuum pump. They can lower groundwater around a work area. A gravity drain depends on its depth and a suitable outlet. The ground, water supply and discharge arrangements determine what is possible at a real property.

Educational illustration. Geometry and motion are simplified, and slopes are exaggerated so the change is visible. It does not predict performance at your property or specify equipment, dimensions or repairs.
