Flat ground gives water little direction. Puddles can collect beside the wall.
What to notice.
Water follows the ground. A low area beside a wall can collect runoff; a continuous fall away provides a different path. Settling and landscaping can change that direction. A site assessment checks the actual levels, nearby surfaces and where the water can go next.
